EarGuard privacy summary

EarGuard is a Windows utility that monitors audio endpoint volume so it can apply the volume ceiling you set.

EarGuard keeps its settings in a local file under your Windows user profile. It uses Windows CoreAudio endpoint callbacks and a watchdog to react to volume changes.

Control is reactive. A brief spike can get through before EarGuard responds, some devices or drivers may limit control, and volume percentages do not measure sound pressure. EarGuard is not a hearing-safety guarantee.

See the current repository documentation ↗ for implementation details.
